miEdge™ donates new iMac and printer to New Boston Central School
New Boston, NH – December 7th, 2016, Students at New Boston Central School, New Boston, NH are taking another step up in technology thanks to the donation of a new iMac desktop computer and color printer from miEdge. Mark Smith, Founder and CEO of the New Boston based miEdge, presented the new iMac to Principal, Tori Underwood on October 13th, 2016.
Mark Smith, Founder and CEO said, “As a business owner in New Boston, I am excited to help my local school district acquire new technology, since I know it can be a lengthy process to acquire funding for new computers and other technology for teachers, para-professionals and students. New and current technology is critical to student’s education in today’s world.”
The new iMac and printer will be used by the Special Education department to complement student’s current usage of iPads and IOS applications. School administrators frequently apply for grants for technology purchase funding, which can take considerable effort and time.
“I now have a new understanding of how community businesses can assist our schools. Donations of gently used computers are not easily accepted due to security policies and potential legacy content on used equipment.” said Mark Smith, “Asking teachers what technology is needed, is easy and a great place to start. Donating new technology that works with their existing strategy reduces the situation of difficult to integrate computers or equipment.”
Quote from Principal, Tori Underwood and Special Education Facilitator, Jenn Gilliland: “We are thankful to Mr. Smith and miEdge for this generous donation. This cutting edge iMac comes fully equipped with so much assistive technology already built in, which will promote the academic successes of our students with a variety of special needs. The iMac will integrate well with our existing iPads.”
Located in a rural setting, New Boston Central School includes students from Preschool through 6th Grade and is part of the Goffstown/New Boston School Administrative Unit 19. Staff and students believe that each student is capable of making significant academic progress. Unique programs at New Boston Community School include the Artist in Residence, Positive Behavior Intervention and Supports (PBIS), Community Meetings, and Schoolwide Themes that link school and community.
