Hopefully, you have been working to change your business model and start moving into larger groups and self-funded accounts-i.e., where there's less governmental disruption. Over the past year, I have tried to use this column to bring new companies to your attention that can help you do just that. This month's spotlight company, miEdge™, is another tool that will help you reach this market faster and easier.

Sometimes a new product is introduced into a market and the reaction is an unabashed WOW. Innovation can be a funny think, like taking an existing idea or concept and improving it by leaps and bounds. When I was a broker, I used to try to find the right prospects to go after. The more information you know before going in, the better your chances. I would find valuable information from different websites such as FreeErisa.com, Judy Diamond, etc. You can find out things like who the current agent is, how much commission is paid, who the insurance carriers are and what lines of coverage they buy. It used to blow me away to find some brokers were getting paid $200,000 or more from one account.
